Thousands Protest Across US After Death of Renée Nicole Good

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across the US, with Minneapolis as the main focus, to protest the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renée Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. The protests took place as part of over 1,000 scheduled rallies across the country. Participation was massive, despite the polar cold, highlighting the anger and shock caused by Good's death. There are conflicting accounts of the incident, with Minnesota Democratic officials claiming video footage shows Good driving away from the officer when she was shot, while the Department of Homeland Security insists the agent acted in self-defense. Protesters chanted slogans such as “Abolish ICE” and “No justice, no peace – get ICE off our streets.” Similar demonstrations took place in other cities, such as Philadelphia, where protesters chanted slogans against fascist America. This incident, along with another shooting and injury of individuals in Portland, Oregon, has led human rights organizations to organize rallies with the central slogan “ICE Out For Good”.
