Ministry of Health Reminds of Protective Measures Due to Viral Outbreak

The Ministry of Health is reminding the public of protective measures against the flu and other respiratory viruses due to increased seasonal flu activity. These include frequent handwashing with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizer, covering the mouth and nose with the elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing, avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and ensuring adequate ventilation of indoor spaces. Furthermore, it is recommended to frequently clean and disinfect surfaces that are often touched, such as doorknobs and counters, and to limit contact with people showing symptoms of infection, especially for vulnerable groups. Mask-wearing is advised in hospitals, nursing homes, and other closed facilities, as well as by individuals in vulnerable groups in crowded settings. If symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, weakness, chills, vomiting, or diarrhea appear, the Ministry recommends self-isolation, mask-wearing, testing (rapid test or PCR), and immediate contact with a personal doctor. Finally, it is emphasized that vaccination against the flu remains the most effective preventive measure, especially for high-risk groups. Vaccination coverage can significantly reduce the severity of the illness and the likelihood of complications.
