Today's Feast Day: Honoring Saints Theopemptus, Theonas, and Syncletica

Today, January 5th, the Church commemorates Saints Theopemptus and Theonas, as well as Saint Syncletica. Saint Theopemptus, a bishop during the reign of Diocletian, was known for his unwavering faith and public confession of Christ, despite severe persecution. He endured horrific tortures, including being burned in a furnace, having one eye removed, and being poisoned, but remained steadfast. His courage influenced the magician Theonas, who also confessed Christ and found a martyric death buried alive. The souls of the two martyrs were united in heaven.
