Trilateral Meeting Between Cyprus, Greece and Egypt Ahead of Erdogan's Visit to Cairo

Cyprus, Greece and Egypt reaffirmed their close cooperation at a trilateral meeting held in Cairo, shortly before the scheduled visit of Turkish President Erdogan to Egypt. The Foreign Ministers of the three countries assured the continuation and expansion of cooperation in new areas, despite Turkey's efforts to warm relations with Cairo. The trilateral meeting aimed to send a message that the Egypt-Cyprus-Greece cooperation axis remains stable and is not affected by Turkish-Egyptian contacts. Discussions focused on the implementation of agreed-upon measures and the exploration of new areas of cooperation, with an emphasis on security and addressing regional crises. The Cypriot Foreign Minister, Konstantinos Kombos, stressed the importance of the Cypriot EU Presidency and the need to connect the EU with the region, while the Greek Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, underlined the importance of the trilateral for regional stability. The Ministers also discussed developments in Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Libya, Gaza and Iran. The trilateral cooperation is based on respect for international law, the historical and geographical proximity of the countries, and a common commitment to regional security and stability.
