Troodos Mountains Covered in Snow: Drivers Advised to Exercise Caution

The Troodos Mountains are covered in snow, offering a winter landscape to residents and visitors. Despite the fog reducing visibility, many people visited the area to enjoy the snow and engage in winter activities. Police are warning drivers to be extra careful due to low visibility and ice on the roads. Troodos Police Spokesperson Giota Georgiou advised drivers to adhere to the traffic code, drive at low speeds, keep headlights on, and be careful when entering and exiting Troodos. Weather forecasts indicate that rain is expected in various areas tomorrow, while good snow is expected on the higher peaks of Troodos. Meteorologist Panagiotis Mouskos stated that the temperature will be slightly above average, but local showers and thunderstorms are expected. From Monday, the temperature will drop by 4-5 degrees Celsius, and strong winds will continue to affect the island. In the past 24 hours, the Fire Service responded to 24 incidents across Cyprus due to strong winds, mainly involving fallen trees and moving objects. Authorities urge citizens to be careful and take necessary protective measures.
