Trump Calls Off Tariffs, Announces Deal on Greenland and Arctic - “Forever Cooperation on Golden Dome and Minerals” (video)

Donald Trump announced an agreement with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte regarding the development of the “Golden Dome” anti-missile shield and mineral extraction in Greenland and the Arctic. The agreement, described as “permanent,” provides for cooperation between the US and European allies in both areas. The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos. According to Trump, European allies will participate in both the “Golden Dome” program and mineral extraction rights in Greenland. This agreement led to the postponement of the imposition of tariffs scheduled for February 1st, improving the climate in the markets. The details of the agreement will be presented at a later stage. Trump stated that negotiations are underway to link the “Golden Dome” program to Greenland, with responsibility falling to the US Vice President, the Secretary of State, the special envoy, and other government officials. The agreement is expected to be beneficial to both the US and NATO member states. There have been reactions from Denmark, as Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark. Trump had previously described the idea of buying Greenland as “absurd.”
