Trump Withdraws US from 66 International Organizations – 31 are UN Bodies

US President Donald Trump has decided to withdraw the country from 66 international organizations, including 31 belonging to the United Nations system. This move is part of the “America First” policy and aims to protect American interests. The decision includes withdrawal from UNESCO and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), despite the return to UNESCO under the Biden presidency. The Trump administration has also proceeded with cuts to US foreign aid, affecting the budgets of UN agencies such as the UNHCR and the World Food Programme. The European Commission expressed regret over the US withdrawal from the UNFCCC, calling it “sad and unfortunate”.
