Ukraine: Communities Evacuated in Northern Region Due to Russian Strikes

Authorities in the Chernihiv region of northern Ukraine have ordered the evacuation of 14 villages near the borders with Russia and Belarus due to daily Russian shelling. While the area had been spared from ground battles after the Ukrainian counter-offensive in 2022, it remains under constant threat of Russian fire, primarily from drones. Approximately 300 people still reside in these villages, and the evacuation must be completed within 30 days. Moscow has intensified its air strikes, primarily targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure, causing power outages. Ukraine has already evacuated over 1,400 residents from the border zone. Diplomatic talks are also underway in an attempt to reach a peaceful resolution.
