Ukraine: Putin to Meet with US Envoys Again

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed he will meet with White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law and advisor, Jared Kushner, to discuss potential terms for ending the war in Ukraine. During a meeting of the Russian Security Council, Putin mentioned the possibility of utilizing frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of war-torn areas, an idea under discussion with the United States. Furthermore, Putin stated he would discuss the use of these funds with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. He also noted that the Foreign Ministry is reviewing Trump's invitation to join the nascent “peace council,” which Putin views primarily as a Washington effort to find a solution to the Middle East. Putin indicated that Moscow is prepared to allocate $1 billion, the amount requested for participation in the council, from frozen Russian assets as part of a Middle East solution, given Russia's relationship with the Palestinian people. The upcoming meeting marks a new attempt to find a diplomatic solution to the war in Ukraine, while also highlighting Russia's involvement in developments in the Middle East.
