Tensions flared in the Mammari area of Cyprus when Turkish soldiers and pseudo-police harassed Greek Cypriot farmers cultivating their fields within the dead zone. The incident, described as a serious provocation, caused concern among residents and was condemned by the President of the Republic. UNFICYP has increased its patrols in the area to prevent further escalation. The Turkish side presents a different version of events, claiming that the farmers violated the buffer zone and attacked the pseudo-state's security forces.
