US Indicts Maduro and Family on Drug Trafficking and Corruption Charges

The US Department of Justice has indicted Nicolás Maduro, the ousted president of Venezuela, his wife Cilia Flores, his son Nicolás Maduro Guerra, and other officials on charges of drug trafficking and corruption. According to the indictment, Venezuelan leaders have been involved in trafficking cocaine into the United States for over 25 years, using their positions and corrupting institutions. Maduro is accused of providing diplomatic cover to drug traffickers and ordering kidnappings and murders to protect his interests. Flores is charged with bribery and mediating deals with drug traffickers. The charges include conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism, cocaine importation, and weapons possession.
