US Seizes Another Tanker Linked to Venezuela in the Caribbean

The United States has seized another tanker linked to Venezuela in the Caribbean, bringing the total number of vessels seized in recent weeks to six. These ships were either carrying or had carried Venezuelan oil and are subject to sanctions or belong to a "shadow fleet" used to conceal the origin of the oil. The US Southern Command confirmed the operation, which was carried out without incident. According to US officials, the goal is to ensure that only oil legally exported from Venezuela can be traded. Simultaneously, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Machado, whom he previously called a "freedom fighter," but dismissed the possibility of her taking over the leadership of Venezuela due to a lack of domestic support. A classified CIA report suggests that supporters of Maduro are better positioned to maintain stability in the country.
