Vardousia Mountains Tragedy: Climbers Likely Triggered Avalanche

A tragedy unfolded in the Vardousia Mountains, where four climbers lost their lives in an avalanche. According to Kostas Mastrokostopoulos, the president of the Athanasios Diakos community, the climbers likely triggered the avalanche themselves by choosing the wrong path and walking in an area with fresh snow over frozen ground. The weather conditions were good, but the route selection proved fatal. The mother of one of the victims is devastated, while the fifth member of the group speaks about the tragedy. Investigations suggest that death was caused by asphyxiation. Access to the area was difficult due to fog, delaying the search efforts.
