Czech PM Goes Viral for Buying Expensive Globe to Find Greenland

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis went viral on social media after revealing he bought an expensive globe, worth 617 euros, in order to locate Greenland. The purchase drew ridicule, as the price of the globe is ten times higher than usual in the Czech Republic. Babis had been asked about his government's position on the US president's interest in Greenland. Additionally, the prime minister made statements about the superiority of globes over flat maps, arguing that the latter distort geographical reality. Social media users ironically commented on the purchase of the globe and Babis's statements, while a 420% increase in globe searches was observed in the Czech Republic.
