The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will visit Nicosia on Wednesday to attend the official launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. This visit follows her meeting in Paris with the Alliance of Willingness for Ukraine. After Nicosia, von der Leyen will travel to other countries in the region on Thursday, namely Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The visit marks the beginning of the Cypriot Presidency and Cyprus's assumption of a significant role within the European Union.
