Weather Change Incoming: Storms, Strong Winds, and Snow Expected in Cyprus

The weather in Cyprus is expected to change in the coming days, with the arrival of low pressure from Thursday evening. Until Thursday evening, the area will be affected by high pressure, and sparse dust will be observed in the atmosphere at intervals. Today and Thursday, the weather will be partly cloudy with light to moderate winds. The temperature will rise to 20 degrees Celsius inland and around 21 degrees Celsius on the coast. From Thursday evening, local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, initially from the west and gradually across the island. Snow or sleet is forecast on the highest peaks of Troodos. Simultaneously, there will be locally very strong winds. On Friday, the weather will be particularly unstable, with rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and snow in the mountains. On Saturday, the weather will improve, but will remain partly cloudy with local rains and snow in the higher mountains. The temperature will remain above average for the season on Thursday, will drop significantly on Friday, and rise slightly on Saturday, returning to near normal values for the time of year.
