White House: Iran Suspended 800 Executions Scheduled for Yesterday – “All Options Are on the Table”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated today that Iran has suspended the execution of 800 protesters scheduled for yesterday. At the same time, she emphasized that “all options” remain open from the United States. Among those convicted is 26-year-old Erfan Soltani, who was sentenced to death by hanging after being arrested in Iran last week, but his execution was not carried out as initially expected. According to Sky News, this was reported by a member of Soltani's family, but this development does not mean that the execution has been definitively avoided. Trump has warned Tehran, adding that he warned Tehran of “serious consequences” if the suppression of protests continues. She also confirmed that the US President had a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who, according to the New York Times, asked him not to intervene militarily in Iran. Trump stated that, according to the information he received, Iran has stopped killing protesters and does not intend to proceed with the execution of dissidents, appearing to move away from the possibility of immediate military action. These statements came after days in which he had left the possibility of intervention open, speaking of a “very fragile situation” and telling Iranian protesters that “help is on the way”.
