Wizz Air has announced the launch of the Wizz Air Pilot Academy (WAPA) in Cyprus, offering Cypriot pilot candidates access to world-class training with a unique financing model for the first time. The WAPA program allows Cypriot candidates to train and become First Officers in approximately two years, with training closely linked to the airline and affordable payment options. Graduates of the program receive a job offer at Wizz Air. The company will host an Open Day on January 25th in Larnaca, where interested parties can learn about the application process. WAPA has already trained over 185 pilots, with over 90 currently in training. The training takes place at the Trener Kft flight school in Hungary, followed by advanced training at one of Wizz Air's bases, with continuous supervision. The program is aimed at individuals over the age of 18 with a high school diploma and good English skills, with an emphasis on mathematics and physics. The financing model includes a low initial deposit and repayment of the balance through deductions from the salary for five years, after employment at Wizz Air. Wizz Air aims to cultivate the new generation of pilots from Cyprus, creating new career opportunities and supporting local talent.
