World No.1 Chess Player Magnus Carlsen Loses Temper, Slams Table After Defeat

World number one chess player Magnus Carlsen once again drew attention at the FIDE World Blitz Championship in Doha after an outburst following his defeat to Indian grandmaster Arjun Erigaisi. Carlsen slammed his fist on the table in frustration after making a serious mistake in the endgame. This is not the first instance of Carlsen reacting strongly during a tournament. He exhibited similar behavior in June after losing to 19-year-old Indian, current world champion, Gukesh Dommaraju at the Norway Chess 2025. These reactions highlight the psychological pressure and intensity of top-level chess, especially in fast-paced blitz matches. Despite the incident, Carlsen had already achieved significant success at the World Rapid Championship, winning his sixth title in the Open category. He won the tournament with 10.5 points, securing a prize of 70,000 euros. In addition to his competitive performance, Carlsen has also been in the spotlight for other reasons, such as the moment he pushed away a cameraman who was following him during the World Rapid Championship.
