Zelensky Asks Trump for Security Guarantees for Ukraine Up to 50 Years

Volodymyr Zelenskyy requested security guarantees for Ukraine for a period of up to 50 years from Donald Trump during their meeting at the White House. The initial U.S. peace plan envisioned guarantees for 15 years, but Zelenskyy believes this is insufficient. Trump stated he would consider the request, while noting that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with 95% of issues settled. He estimated that if things continue to progress positively, the war could end in a few weeks. Zelenskyy confirmed that the talks are very close to an agreement, stating that almost all points have been covered. However, the duration of security guarantees remains one of the outstanding issues. The meeting took place at a critical time for Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia for almost two years. Ukraine urgently needs security guarantees to prevent further attacks and ensure the stability of the country.
