CT Analysis: Two-State Solution Lesson from Yilmaz. Strange Silence from Fidan on Cyprus Issue

The Turkish Vice President, Cevdet Yilmaz, visited the occupied territories, reiterating Turkey's position for a two-state solution in Cyprus and the protection of the "rights" of Turkish Cypriots. He was welcomed by the self-proclaimed "prime minister" of the occupied territories, Unal Ustel. Yilmaz is expected to meet today with the occupation leader, Tufan Erhurman, who has recently appeared to be marginalized by Ankara. There is a strange silence from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding the Cyprus issue, as he did not extensively refer to it during the press conference on the priorities of his Ministry for 2024. Yilmaz's visit is considered a bad omen for the prospects of resolving the Cyprus issue.
