Schalke Announces Signing of Dzeko

After 15 years, Edin Dzeko is returning to Germany, this time to join Schalke. The Bundesliga 2 leaders announced on Thursday (January 22nd) the signing of the Bosnian striker. Dzeko, who spent the last two years at Fenerbahce and briefly at Fiorentina, failed to establish himself in Serie A, making only 11 appearances for the Viola. The 39-year-old is familiar with German football, having played for Wolfsburg (2007-2011), where he won the championship in the 2008-09 season. His return to Germany comes with a team that is on the rise, after some difficult years. The 39-year-old expressed his enthusiasm for joining Schalke, stating that he had watched many of the team's matches and was impressed by their progress. He said he would give his all to contribute to the team's success in the second half of the season. Dzeko will wear the number 10 shirt and is looking forward to his debut at the packed Veltins Arena, Schalke's stadium. The signing is considered a significant boost for the team, ahead of their promotion push to the Bundesliga.
