Last Quarter for Voter Registration Before 2026 Elections

The countdown has begun for voter registration, as we have entered the last quarter for reviewing the electoral rolls before the parliamentary elections on May 24, 2026. April 2, 2026, is the last day to register new voters. This period is also important for young people who will turn 18 by election day. To register on the electoral roll, citizens over 25 years of age must provide proof of permanent residence in the Republic of Cyprus for the last six months and attend a personal interview at the provincial administrations. Citizens up to 25 years of age can apply online through the elections website. Turkish Cypriots holding identity cards of the Republic of Cyprus with an address in the free areas are also eligible to register. Registration on the electoral roll is a prerequisite for exercising the right to vote. It is noted that in 2026, automatic registration on the electoral rolls will be implemented for the first time for those who are eligible, as well as voting at the age of 17. According to the latest figures, 160,094 Cypriot citizens over the age of 18 have not yet registered on the electoral roll, while the percentage of unregistered voters in the 18-25 age group is 52.06%.
