Scams via SMS messages impersonating the GESY - Advice to the public

Recently, the Electronic Crime Sub-Directorate has received numerous reports of suspicious SMS messages falsely claiming to be from the GESY (Cyprus Health Insurance Organization). These messages falsely state that there is a problem with accessing the GESY's electronic portal and prompt citizens to fix the error via a malicious link. This link leads to a phishing website, aiming to steal login credentials. The Electronic Crime Sub-Directorate warns the public that these messages are dangerous and have no connection to the GESY. It advises citizens to be particularly careful and not respond to such messages or click on the links they contain. Citizens are urged to never disclose their personal information or login credentials to anyone. Additionally, they should verify the authenticity of messages requesting password input by contacting the sender directly. If someone has already entered their credentials into a suspicious link, they should immediately change their password and secure their account. It is also recommended to use different passwords for each electronic service they use.
