Growing Number of Young People Reject Traditional Labels: A Look at Gen Z's Sexual Identity

A recent poll by Business Insider and YouGov reveals a significant increase in the number of young people (Gen Z, ages 15-28) who do not identify as exclusively heterosexual, reaching 26%. These young people identify as “Queer,” an identity that suggests fluidity in their sexual preference, as opposed to traditional categories. At the same time, there is a trend of people within the same generation expressing dissatisfaction with the changing traditional gender roles. The percentages of non-heterosexual individuals are lower in previous generations (Millennials, Gen X, Boomers), indicating an evolutionary trend of the phenomenon.
