Trade Deficit Increases in the First 11 Months of 2025

The trade deficit increased in the first 11 months of 2025, reaching €7,284.3 million, compared to €6,385.1 million in the same period of 2024. This increase is mainly due to a larger rise in imports of goods compared to exports, according to data from the Statistical Service. In November 2025, imports decreased by 10.6% to €1,038.4 million, while exports increased by 6.3% to €407.1 million. The decrease in imports was partly due to lower transfers of ship ownership. For the period January-November 2025, total imports amounted to €12,309.7 million, up 9.9% compared to 2024, while total exports reached €5,025.4 million, recording an increase of 4.5%. The difference between the two figures led to a widening of the trade deficit. The main export categories for the period January-October 2025 were mineral fuels and oils (€2,000.8 million), halloumi (€309.7 million) and pharmaceutical products (€289.7 million).
