Attorney General: Video Investigation Terms of Reference Include Content, Directions, Statements, and Names

The Attorney General of Cyprus, George Savvides, stated that the terms of reference given to independent criminal investigator Andreas Paschalidis regarding the controversial video are very broad and include authenticity, origin, motives, content, as well as directions, evidence, statements, and names. The investigation is ongoing, and the Legal Service is in constant contact with the Police, both in Cyprus and abroad. Savvides emphasized that the order does not signify the start, but the continuation of investigative actions. He also highlighted the need for discretion and understanding from the media, as the public disclosure of details could affect the course of the investigation. Regarding the investigation abroad, the Attorney General mentioned that the Police will proceed with technical examination, sending material to foreign authorities, and requesting legal assistance to obtain answers and measures from other countries. When asked about a possible approach to the X platform (formerly Twitter) and the US, Savvides replied that this depends on many factors, but confirmed that there are directions, evidence, statements, and individuals that need to be evaluated and investigated.
