Denmark: Yes to Talks but with Respect for Territorial Integrity

Denmark has stated it will continue talks on Arctic security, but only with respect for Greenland's territorial integrity. This followed Donald Trump's announcement that he was withdrawing the threat of tariffs on Europe regarding Greenland, as he reached a preliminary agreement with NATO on developing a missile defense shield and mining minerals on the island. Trump desires to begin immediate negotiations for the US to acquire Greenland, but ruled out the use of force. Denmark confirmed that NATO is aware of its position and that the talks do not concern the country's national sovereignty. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized close cooperation with the Greenlandic government.
