Published January 25, 2026, 19:15

A new poll by RAI Consultants Ltd, presented by Alpha on Sunday, explores public preferences for the 2028 presidential elections. 42% of respondents stated it was too early to express a preference, while a significant 12% said there was no suitable candidate. Nikos Christodoulides leads with 13%, receiving the main support from DIKO, DIPA and EDEK. He is followed by Odysseus Michaelides with 7%, the Mayor of Paphos with 6%, and Averof Neofytou and Annita Dimitriou with 4% each. Smaller percentages are recorded for the other potential candidates. In the "winning scenario", the percentage of those who believe it is too early increases to 62%. Nikos Christodoulides remains the frontrunner with 15%, followed by Annita Dimitriou with 5%, Odysseus Michaelides and Faidon Phaidonos with 4%, and Averof Neofytou with 3%. Other candidates record percentages of 1%. The poll was based on open-ended questions, allowing respondents to answer spontaneously. This suggests that citizens have not yet formed clear preferences and that the political situation is fluid. Overall, the poll shows that the 2028 presidential elections are still far off and that citizens have not yet decided on the next president. The situation is expected to change as the elections approach and the candidates begin to present their positions.
