Parliament to Host Interparliamentary Conference on AI within EU Presidency Framework

The House of Representatives will host the Interparliamentary Conference on “In the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges” on January 14-15, 2026, as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Conference will be attended by delegations from the parliaments of EU member states, the European Commission, and the European Parliament. The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Dimitriou, will deliver a welcome address at the opening of the proceedings. The Conference will examine a wide range of issues arising from the development of artificial intelligence, including opportunities, challenges, ethical, legal, and social dimensions. Key speakers will include European Commissioner Michael McGrath, Deputy Minister of Research and Innovation Nikodimos Damianou, and members of the European Parliament. Topics such as the governance of Artificial Intelligence, challenges to democracy and the rule of law, and the impact on employment will be discussed.
