CYMEPA Gains International Recognition with INTERCARGO Membership

The Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA) announced its approval for membership in INTERCARGO (International Association of Dry Cargo Shipowners) as an Associate Member. The decision was officially communicated by INTERCARGO Secretary General Kostas G. Konis, confirming CYMEPA's active participation in the Association's international network. INTERCARGO, founded in 1980 and based in London, is the internationally recognized institutional representative of dry bulk shipowners, with a substantial and ongoing presence in major international shipping organizations and decision-making centers. Today, INTERCARGO represents over 250 shipping companies from around 30 countries, managing a significant percentage of the global dry bulk carrier fleet and playing a crucial role in shaping policies related to navigational safety, environmental protection, and the sustainability of international shipping, in compliance with IMO standards and other international bodies. CYMEPA’s inclusion is a strong international recognition of its credibility and work in marine environmental protection, and it strengthens Cyprus’s presence in a key global shipping forum, fostering collaboration between the shipping industry and environmental education, pollution prevention, and sustainable development.
