Greek Farmers Escalate Protests with Road Closures

Farmers in Greece are escalating their protests with a four-day closure of the Athens-Lamia National Road, starting today at Kastro, Boeotia, as well as road blockades in Central and Northern Greece. They are demanding an immediate meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to address their concerns. The government, through sources, states that the Prime Minister is willing to meet with farmer representatives, provided they represent the entirety of the agricultural movement, and also proposes meetings with ministers Hatzidakis and Tsiaras. It is noted that a previous proposal for a meeting with a specific date and time was rejected by the farmers without discussion.
