Havana Responds to Trump's Threats: 'Cuba is a Free, Independent and Sovereign Nation'

Cuba has responded to threats from Donald Trump of military intervention and 'regime change', emphasizing that it is a free, independent and sovereign nation. Trump had previously threatened to halt oil and money supplies to Cuba following its support for Venezuela. The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, rejected the threats, accusing the US of blockading Cuba for 66 years. He stressed that Cuba does not threaten anyone, but is ready to defend its homeland. The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, reiterated that Cuba does not receive financial or material assistance for security services and has the right to import fuel from any country. He accused the US of criminal and unchecked hegemony that threatens global peace and security. Cuba is currently conducting exercises for popular defense and holding discussions within the Party regarding the difficulties caused by the US blockade.
