«My decision is irrevocable»: Philippa definitively steps down from the Independent Social Support Agency

The First Lady of Cyprus, Philippa Karsera Christodoulidou, is definitively stepping down from her duties as President of the Independent Social Support Agency (ISSA), despite calls from the Board of Directors to reconsider her decision. Her departure comes after the release of a video that sparked reactions and accusations of corruption. Ms. Karsera emphasized that her decision is irrevocable and that her priority is to ensure the smooth continuation of the Agency's work and the payment of scholarships to eligible students. According to the Agency's Secretary, 1,800 applications are pending evaluation. The Board of Directors decided to propose to the Council of Ministers measures to continue the Agency's work, with emphasis on completing the application evaluation process and ensuring transparency in the management of donations. The Auditor General proposed the immediate implementation of the regulation submitted in December by the Audit Office, which provides for the donor's consent for the publication of their name for donations exceeding €20,000. The Committee categorically denies any unfounded allegations aimed at damaging the work and credibility of the Agency.
