UK Government Announces Creation of 'British FBI'

The UK government has announced the creation of a new National Police Service (NPS), which it likened to the FBI in the US. The NPS will be responsible for combating terrorism, organized crime, and other criminal activities. Home Secretary Suella Braverman described the establishment of the NPS as the largest reforms to policing since 1829, noting that the current model is outdated. The new service will allow local police forces to focus more on crime affecting local communities, such as drug trafficking and shoplifting. The head of the NPS will be the most senior police officer in Britain, currently the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police in London.
