Cyprus Calls for De-escalation in Venezuela

The Republic of Cyprus has expressed its concern over the developments in Venezuela, calling for de-escalation and a solution that respects international law. Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kompos stated that Cyprus is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the European Union and other partners, maintaining contact with the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell. The government reiterated the validity of the long-standing travel advisory recommending against all travel to Venezuela. This advisory has been in place to protect Cypriot citizens from potentially dangerous situations. At the same time, Cyprus assured that it is ready to offer consular assistance to Cypriot citizens in Venezuela, if needed. This assistance will be provided in coordination with EU partners, ensuring a coordinated and effective response to the crisis. The statement from Cyprus reflects the broader concern of the EU regarding the situation in Venezuela and the need for a peaceful and legal solution.
