Businessmen Arrested in Connection to Larnaaca Shooting

Two businessmen were arrested in Larnaaca and are being held for four days pending police investigation into the recent bloody clash in the area. The arrests were made in two simultaneous searches of their homes and properties. Conspiracy, interference in a judicial process, and illegal possession of property are being investigated against the 47-year-old, while conspiracy and interference in a judicial process are being investigated against the 43-year-old. During the searches, a large sum of money (approximately €100,000) and checks were found at the 47-year-old's office. Three individuals allegedly working as unlicensed security guards are expected to be charged and released. According to testimony obtained by authorities, the two businessmen met with the owner of the shop in front of which the shooting took place at a seaside hotel. During the meeting, they allegedly requested money for “protection” and proposed a business partnership to the owner. The authorities are investigating information suggesting that the two businessmen are attempting to impose their dominance in the center of Larnaaca through another suspect in the shooting. Police continue to investigate the facts.
