A 28-year-old motorcyclist, Andreas Antoniou, lost his life in a fatal traffic accident in Engomi, Nicosia. The incident occurred when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by a 23-year-old woman. Antoniou was transported to the General Hospital of Nicosia, where his death was pronounced. The car driver was arrested to facilitate investigations, with alcohol and drug tests returning negative results. Andreas Antoniou was a police officer serving in the YKAN (Drug Squad) and was about to get married soon. The Police expressed deep sorrow for his untimely death and offers support to his family. The incident has caused grief within the Police force and the community. This tragic incident marks the 12th fatal road accident in Cyprus for 2026, intensifying concerns about road safety, especially regarding motorcyclists.
