Strong Winds Sweep Across Cyprus - 17 Incidents Reported

Strong winds have swept across Cyprus today, causing a total of 17 incidents in Nicosia, Limassol, and Famagusta, according to the Fire Service. The most interventions were recorded in Nicosia and Strovolos, with falling trees and damage to awnings and pergolas. One tree fell in Famagusta, while in Limassol and the Kellaki community, there were tree falls, movement of corrugated iron, and sparking from EAC cables. The Fire Service urges all citizens to be particularly careful, to secure objects that can be carried away by the wind, and to avoid unnecessary travel. These strong winds are capable of causing significant damage, so observing safety measures is crucial. Fire Service Spokesman Andreas Kettis stressed the need for caution and preventive measures. The Service is on standby to respond to any new incidents caused by the bad weather. The Fire Service reminds that the bad weather is expected to continue and calls on citizens to monitor official announcements and stay informed about the development of weather phenomena.
