The Christiana A. Apostolou Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary with a large event in Larnaca, attended by prominent figures from the government, the church, local authorities, and the medical community. The event, titled “Love – Giving – Humanity,” highlighted the foundation’s multifaceted work, with an emphasis on supporting patients needing treatment abroad. To date, the foundation has supported over 600 families, and the implementation of a state plan to cover travel and accommodation expenses for patients abroad was announced. The keynote speaker, Andreas Apostolou, Vice President of the Foundation, emphasized that the foundation was created and operates based on the values of his mother, Christiana Apostolou, namely love, humility, and giving. His speech included a review of the foundation’s work, as well as announcements of future initiatives. Significant reference was made to the foundation’s collaborations with the Federation of Associations of Patients Cyprus (OSAK) and the Patient Advocate institution, as well as the voluntary contribution of the Foundation’s Medical Committee. Additionally, initiatives such as educational programs against school bullying, blood donations, and upgrades to children’s infrastructure were presented. For 2026, the Foundation announced the strengthening of services for cancer patients in the province of Larnaca and the launch of a Day Care Unit for Cancer Patients at the General Hospital of Larnaca, as well as support for the Pediatric Oncology Unit through joint actions with the Pan-Cypriot Association of Parents and Friends of the Pediatric Oncology Unit. Andreas Apostolou concluded his speech by reiterating the foundation’s commitment to ensuring that no one feels alone in the fight against illness.
