Four people were injured this morning in a cable car accident in Macugnaga, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in Piedmont, Italy. According to initial reports, the cable car cabin arrived at the station at excessive speed, colliding with a safety barrier. The injured are three passengers and the cable car operator. A 59-year-old man has a hand injury, while the others have minor abrasions. None of the injured are in critical condition. The company operating the cable car, Macugnaga Trasporti e Servizi, stated that the braking system did not function properly and emergency systems were activated. Due to the accident, approximately 100 people were stranded in the Passo del Moro area, at an altitude of 2,800 meters. All passengers were safely evacuated and transported back to the base. Authorities will conduct thorough technical inspections of the cable car to determine the exact cause of the accident.
