Cyprus Prioritizes Implementation of EU Migration-Asylum Pact

The Deputy Minister of Migration and International Protection, Nicolas Ioannidis, presented the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU for migration to European media. The main priority is the smooth, coordinated, and timely implementation of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, with the aim of full operation by June 12, 2026. The Cypriot Presidency will focus on strengthening returns to countries where this has been difficult until now, as well as creating the conditions for sustainable returns. Mr. Ioannidis emphasized that Cyprus will strive to act conciliatory and consensually to overcome disagreements and achieve the correct implementation of the Pact.
