Ammochostos Municipality: Linking Debt to Building Permits, Not a Downgrade of Police Role

The Ammochostos Provincial Administration Organization (EOA) is taking steps to increase productivity and collect debts. One of these measures is linking the debts of citizens and companies to the EOA with applications for building permits and licenses. This means that applications will not be considered if there are outstanding debts for water or sewage. EOA President Yannis Karousos emphasized that it is unacceptable for large entrepreneurs to have debts and submit licensing applications without settling them. In addition, the EOA has sent a letter to the Data Protection Commissioner to inform them of the intention to publish a list of debtors with large debts. Mr. Karousos also called for the enactment of legislation allowing the publication of debtors, as a total of 43 organizations owe the EOA Ammochostos more than 10 million euros. Finally, the EOA is promoting the implementation of artificial intelligence to automate processes and increase efficiency.
