Fines and Charges Issued in Road Transport Department Checks for Illegal Passenger Transport

The Road Transport Department of Cyprus conducted intensive checks in Nicosia and Larnaca between March 16th and 22nd, aiming to combat illegal passenger transport. The checks resulted in fines totaling €8,250 and charges against vehicles for various offenses. In Nicosia, 120 vehicles were inspected, while 8 private vehicles were checked at Larnaca Airport, leading to the identification of violations and the issuance of warnings. The Road Transport Department emphasizes the risks associated with illegal passenger transport, such as the lack of insurance coverage and the use of unlicensed drivers. Checks will continue, and the public is urged to use only licensed taxis and report suspicious cases.
