Bill Proposed to Abolish Social Support Agency

A bill to abolish the Independent Social Support Agency and transfer its responsibilities to the Cyprus State Scholarships Foundation has been submitted to the Parliament. The bill is co-signed by Stefanos Stefanou (AKEL), Kyriakos Hadjigiannis (DISY), and Alexandra Attalidou (Independent). The proposal includes a six-month transitional period during which the Agency will only process pending issues. After this period, the Agency will cease to exist. All assets and liabilities of the Agency will be transferred to the Scholarship Foundation, ensuring continued support for beneficiaries. The purpose of the bill is to avoid duplication of responsibilities, better utilize resources, and enhance transparency.
