Cyprus Tourism Minister Optimistic About 2025, Focuses on Quality

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, met with local stakeholders in Paphos to discuss the Ministry's strategy for 2025, which is expected to be the best tourism year in Cyprus' history. The main goal is to maintain this success by providing an excellent tourist experience. During the meeting, new plans were presented and ways to address long-standing problems were discussed, along with proposals for improvements. Mr. Koumis emphasized the importance of the smooth operation of all tourist destinations and ensuring the quality of services provided. He highlighted Paphos' significant contribution to the success of Cypriot tourism, with arrivals exceeding 30%. Recognizing the new challenges of the new year, the Deputy Minister focused on climate change and the need for collective action. He stated that no issues have been identified with local authorities and that the Ministry is constantly evaluating the services offered. Furthermore, Mr. Koumis referred to the Paphos Marina issue, assuring that the process is proceeding normally, with the signing of contracts expected in early 2027. The Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, described 2025 as a very good year and stressed the need to shift the focus from quantity to quality of tourist services from 2026 onwards.
