Cypriot Phenomenon at European Parliament

During President Christodoulides' speech at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a trend was observed among Cypriot MEPs to speak on behalf of their political groups, rather than highlighting the Cypriot Republic through their group leaders. Only the leader of the European People's Party and the representative of the Greens made warm comments about the Cypriot presidency. MEPs from DIKO and AKEL spoke on behalf of their groups, while the MEP from ELAM spoke on behalf of the European Conservatives and Reformists. The question is raised as to why Cypriot MEPs do not convince their groups to choose their leaders for important interventions, such as the first appearance of the Cypriot presidency, and whether this criticism also applies to Cyprus itself, as is the case with Ukraine.
