Cyprus Health System Software Faces Ongoing Issues

The software of the Cyprus Health System (Cyprus Health Services - GeSY) is experiencing significant problems, causing inconvenience to doctors, patients, and pharmacists across Cyprus. Doctors report slow response times or complete system outages, making it impossible to register and execute prescriptions. Similar issues are being recorded in pharmacies, where delays are creating long queues and lengthy waiting times for citizens. The President of the Pan-Cypriot Pharmaceutical Association points out that the problems are frequent and were expected to be resolved. Officials from the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO) acknowledge the difficulties in accessing records and prescriptions, while the HIO assures that a final solution is expected by May 2026. This situation is causing significant disruption to the provision of healthcare services.
