Poll Shows Turkish Cypriots Seeking a Solution to the Cyprus Issue

According to a poll conducted in the Turkish-held areas in December 2025, the majority of Turkish Cypriots desire a solution to the Cyprus issue. 62.2% of respondents want an agreement to be reached, while 53.31% accept renewed coexistence with Greek Cypriots. Additionally, 36.07% consider territorial concessions in exchange for political equality to be acceptable. The research, carried out by the “Center for Migration, Identity and Rights Studies” (CMIRS) on a sample of 500 people, showed that 79.36% support a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation. Simultaneously, 68.74% accept the continuation of the existing system of guarantees, while 54.91% accept the creation of a new international security mechanism. Uncertainty regarding the Cyprus issue causes concern for 91.79% of respondents, and 70.35% are worried about the increasing influence of Turkey.
