Maduro Open to Talks with US on Drugs, Oil

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated he is “ready” for talks with the US regarding drug trafficking, oil, or economic agreements, amid heightened tensions between the two countries. This comes as the US has deployed significant military forces to the Caribbean. Maduro indicated Venezuela is willing to discuss anti-drug agreements and provide oil in exchange for US investment, such as that from Chevron. He avoided directly commenting on claims by Donald Trump regarding a US raid on a Venezuelan port facility, suggesting the matter could be discussed at a later date. The Trump administration asserts it destroyed a pier used for drug trafficking.
